An Interactive Timeline
Elementary School:
Create a classroom timeline highlighting key events and figures in Black history. Add visuals, short descriptions, or interactive elements that allow students to engage with the timeline. Throughout the week or month, allocate a few minutes for students to explore a specific timeline point, fostering curiosity and providing opportunities for discussion.
Middle School:
Extend the interactive timeline concept to middle school by incorporating more comprehensive historical events. Assign students different segments of the timeline to research and present to the class, promoting independent learning and collaboration. Throughout the week or month, connect the timeline points to ongoing lessons, encouraging students to draw connections between historical events and contemporary issues.
